NXpress Nintendo Podcast 125: ‘Owlboy’, ‘Dandara’, and How We’d Make a Mario Movie
Indies, indies, and more indies! The Nintendo Switch is dominating our lives with an abundance of well-crafted low-budget experiences, and this week Rick, Tim, and Patrick revel in some of the better ones they’ve been playing. From Patrick’s measured praise for Dandara to Rick’s effusive acclaim for Owlboy, as well as a few more games thrown into the mix like SHU and Darkest Dungeon, there are plenty of titles to be covered. Before that, Patrick gets past the embarrassment of just getting around to playing Skyrim and lets the guys know what he thinks of wandering around Tamriel on the Switch. After having Breath of the Wild as an intro to open-world games, does this former masterpiece still hold up? I think you all know the answer.
Later on, the crew holds a Hollywood-style production meeting for the newly confirmed Super Mario movie. We brainstorm our ideas for directing, casting, composers, and give our elevator pitches for how the story should play out. Usually, we would scoff at script by committee, but what happens here results in creative genius. For all this and more, have a listen!
