CD Projekt Red Collaborates with Epic Games to Enhance Unreal Engine 5
CD Projekt Red (CDPR), the developer behind The Witcher 4, is working closely with Epic Games to improve Unreal Engine 5. This collaboration aims to enhance the engine’s capabilities, addressing various limitations and optimizing performance for their upcoming titles.
In a recent interview with Flow Games, Pawel Sasko, Associate Game Director at CDPR, discussed the benefits and challenges of using Unreal Engine 5. He praised the engine for its impressive visuals but acknowledged that it has certain limitations. Sasko emphasized that every technology has its flaws, including Unreal Engine 5 and CDPR’s own Red Engine 4. He believes that working with Epic Games will help overcome these issues and bring structural improvements to the engine.
CDPR’s decision to transition from Red Engine to Unreal Engine 5 marks a significant shift. Despite the challenges, the studio remains confident about the move. According to Sasko, this collaboration will lead to necessary changes and improvements, benefiting all future CDPR projects. This includes The Witcher 4, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, The Witcher Remake, and The Molasses Flood’s multiplayer spin-off.
