Top Mobile Horse Racing Games for Derby Fans This 2026
The horse racing world is currently at the peak of the Derby prep season. Aside from the races, there are several ways to enjoy the Sport of Kings. Just recently, Sunday Funday is making a historic return to Kentucky Derby week. The day is designed as a community celebration. People can choose from brunch options, festive morning cocktails, and breakfast bites available around the track.
Virtually, people can also play Derby games. Some games put players directly in the saddle. For those who enjoy the strategy of a front office, there are deep simulations where they can act as a stable owner and breeder. There are also cinematic options designed for a more relaxed experience. Check them out here:
Taking The Reins
Following the Kentucky Derby horses this year, along with other horse racing events, can now be taken care of by the fans themselves, though in a game called Horse Racing Manager 2026. It is a deep sports management simulation game. Players can take on the role of a stable owner and breeder. Unlike manual arcade-style racing, this game focuses on strategic decision-making similar to the game style of Football Manager.
Start with a small stable and expand it into a world-class operation. Use the Pseudo-DNA feature to breed horses with specific characteristics and performance capabilities. Develop their stats through various training routines and lifestyle plans. Hire and manage a full team to help manage them. Once they are ready to race, enter them in a full calendar of races.
Tack On Pretty
Umamusume: Pretty Derby is another simulation game to try. The game is a unique hybrid of a Roguelite Training Simulator and a Sports Management Sim. Plus, it can even be like a Gacha RPG (Role-Playing Game). It is like a mix of Princess Maker (character development) and Football Manager (strategic sports simulation).
Players pick one Umamusume (Japanese for “ Horse Girl”) and put her through a training program (roughly 72 turns). Balance core stats to suit her distance specialty and her running style. Use Jewels to pull for Support Cards that make training easier. On race day, players do not control horses. The results will all depend on their stats and the skills they built before the gates opened.
Frame The Win
Another option for horse management is Photo Finish Horse Racing. However, unlike Umamusume: Pretty Derby, players manage real horses in this game. It’s more similar to Horse Racing Manager 2026. In fact, they were both created by the same developer, Third Time Entertainment, Inc. It’s just that Horse Racing Manager 2026 is the hardcore version and has a more developed economy.
While Manager 2026 is for stat-heads, Photo Finish simplifies the experience. The training and breeding systems are deep but slightly more intuitive for casual players who just want to get to the racing. They can use their own “Jockey AI” to find the best lane and timing. They can just sit back and enjoy the high-quality 3D graphics without worrying that a wrong menu setting mid-race will cost them the win.
Legacy On Track
For those who prefer direct control over the horse’s movements during a race, Rival Stars Horse Racing is a way to go. On the track, players tap the “Run” button exactly when the gates open to get a Perfect Start boost. Then, they can use the left/right arrows to stay in their horse’s preferred position. This fills their Sprint Energy bar faster. Sprint Energy can be used to burst past opponents.
Aside from being the Jockey, players also act as the Manager. The storyline is that players are third-generation horse enthusiasts returning to their family’s neglected estate to restore its former glory. They can use resources (like wood or silver) to upgrade facilities, which then let them unlock caps. They can also train their horses to level up their skills or hire better trainers to speed up stat growth.
Gait To Greatness
Equestrian the Game (ETG) is the Gran Turismo of horse racing games. The game focuses more on accuracy than on speed. Players control their horse’s gait and balance manually. They can also breed horses for Conformation (physical build). They can mix breeds to create crossbreeds (like Thoroughbreds and Arabians) that inherit the best physical traits.
Players are also responsible for building and upgrading their home bases. They manage their resources (grain and hay) and build better training arenas to automate their horses’ stat growth while they are offline. They can also upgrade their horse trailer to travel to new regions and unlock higher-tier horses in the market.
Derby Playstyles
There’s a horse racing game for every kind of Derby fan in 2026. Players who enjoy deep management can dive into Horse Racing Manager 2026 or try the simpler Photo Finish Horse Racing. Those who want direct control can take on the jockey role in Rival Stars Horse Racing. For those who are not fans of speed, enjoy the accuracy game of Equestrian the Game (ETG). Lastly, Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a good option for a more stylized take.
