Sea of Thieves Update Adds Anti-Cheat and Free Solo Play
Next week, the popular pirate adventure game, Sea of Thieves, is set to receive a significant mid-season update. This update will introduce anti-cheat measures and enable subscription-free solo play, enhancing the gaming experience for its players.
Rare, the game’s developer, plans to implement Epic’s kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat solution, used in Fortnite and Apex Legends, starting from next Thursday, March 14th. This addition aims to address any suspicious behavior players might have encountered during their adventures.

Moreover, the update will expand the Safer Seas mode introduced last year. From next Thursday, players can venture into the Sea of Thieves alone on a private Safer Seas server without needing a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It’s important to note that this isn’t an offline mode, as the game still relies on server connectivity. Additionally, any form of multiplayer, even within Safer Seas, will still require a Game Pass.
PlayStation 5 owners can also look forward to this update. The new solo play option will be available on Sony’s platform, allowing single players to enjoy Safer Seas without a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The update also brings new items to the premium Pirate Emporium, including new emotes and cosmetics, and fresh additions to Outpost stores. A highlight is the stylish Maestro ship set.
Finally, the sixth anniversary of Sea of Thieves is approaching, and Rare plans to celebrate on March 20th. They will offer a sneak peek into what promises to be an exciting year for the game.
