Star Wars Strategy Game Development Unaffected by EA Layoffs
Electronic Arts (EA) has faced a tough period, announcing massive layoffs and the cancellation of several projects, including a first-person shooter Star Wars game by Respawn Entertainment. Despite these setbacks, there is a silver lining for Star Wars fans. A strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, developed by Bit Reactor, remains in development. This news comes as a relief amid worries about the game’s future following EA’s recent restructuring focused on its intellectual properties.
Bit Reactor took to Twitter to reassure fans, stating, “We are still hard at work, and our game was unaffected by last week’s news.” This strategy game, yet to be named, promises to add a new dimension to the Star Wars gaming landscape. While no official release date has been provided, the developer assures that the game will launch “as soon as it’s ready.”

This development is noteworthy as it continues amidst a wave of changes at EA, including over 650 layoffs and a strategic shift towards focusing on its own intellectual properties. The canceled Star Wars shooter had been announced alongside other projects, including Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. However, the strategy game’s continuation signals a beacon of hope for Star Wars enthusiasts and gamers looking forward to exploring new adventures in the galaxy far, far away.
