NXpress Nintendo Podcast 124: ‘Celeste’ and Difficulty in Video Games plus Nintendo’s Twitter Direct
This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Ricky, Tim and, Patrick discuss Celeste, the latest game from TowerFall creator Matt Thorson and his very small team of collaborators over at Matt Makes Games. On the surface, Celeste is a retro-styled adventure about a girl scaling a mountain, but in gameplay terms, Celeste is one of the toughest 2D platformers we’ve ever played – very much in the style of Super Meat Boy. Despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews Celeste has received since its release, the game can be an intimidating experience, to say the least. This week we discuss the game’s merits, as well as difficulty in games in general. Before that, however, we set aside some time to discuss the recent announcement of Nintendo’s next mobile app titled Mario Kart Tour, as well as the Super Mario animated movie in the works. All this and more.
