Mario and Luigi Series: Why Nintendo Considered Abandoning It!
As the title suggests, Mario and Luigi Series is on the mark of getting cancelled as per the latest updates.
In the recent interview with the studio, it seems like before the release of the official Mario & Luigi: Brothership series, the overall series will never come to the picture. But why?
Even though fans are really anticipating this duo to be back, Nintendo Games seems to be unbothered about releasing the game for the following reasons.
The first reason, we could assume for Nintendo to have taken a step back from the project, is AlphaDream, the developer behind the series, shut down after remaking Bowser’s Inside Story and Superstar Saga.

Still, fans, as usual, were hoping it would come back after 21 years of waiting, but it never came to the picture. Hence, it leads to disappointment.
Moreover, in Nintendo’s Ask The Developer interview, something shocking unveils that the Mario & Luigi RPG series was nearly canceled before Mario & Luigi: Brothership. The two certain reasons were:
First, the team was unable to match new gaming hardware advancements.
And second, preserving the classic style and feel of the Mario & Luigi games, which is not an easy task.
Hence, the project was cancelled, and fans will never get to see the comeback of the iconic Mario duo.
Lastly, Akira Otani was the one who shared the insights and updates on the project during the interview.
How Acquire Talent Restored Mario & Luigi’s Confidence:
As we dig further into the interview, we get to know the many vital details regarding the approach of Nintendo Games towards future planning for the Mario games. Below are key highlights from the interview with Otani:
Key Highlights from the Interview:
Otani spoke about the fact that talking to Acquire Corp’s director has given a new team spirit to all the members working on the project.
Because they are the only ones who can fulfill all the visions and dream projects of Nintendo and can be a great help.
Otani also shared his close connection to AlphaDream, a studio originally involved in creating the Mario & Luigi series and games. That can be a huge hint towards the future planning of the project.
Hence, future collaborations with the iconic Acquire can open many doors for Nintendo to bring a brand-new gaming universe of everyone’s beloved Mario & Luigi series and beyond.
