The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Ranks as Second Best-Selling Game in the UK for 2024
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog’s remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 has emerged as a top-seller in the UK for 2024. Christopher Dring shared insights revealing that this title holds the position of the second best-selling game of the year, just behind Helldivers 2.
Dring discussed the UK gaming revenue drop of 30% in the first half of 2024 on Twitter, emphasizing that the sales drop in terms of units was much smaller, just over 3%. He attributed this to lower-priced games like Helldivers 2 performing well. Helldivers 2, developed with a smaller budget and team, outpaced many AAA titles, showing the impact of production costs on game success.
Released in January 2024 for the PS5, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is an enhanced version of the original 2020 PS4 release. Current owners of the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 edition for a fee of $10. Despite being available only on the PS5, the game has proven to be a commercial success. There are also rumors suggesting a potential PC release, sparked by findings on a platform similar to SteamDB for Epic Games.
