NXpress Nintendo Podcast 243: The Best Switch Games of 2021 So Far
This week, we celebrate some of the best games of 2021 before heading into the crowded holiday season. Which game will come out on top?
This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill take advantage of the calm before the storm of major releases later this year and highlight some of the best games of 2021 released thus far. Before doing that, though, the gang ponders an important question: after the brilliant conversion of Skyward Sword HD to Switch, what other Wii games should come to Nintendo’s latest hardware? The hosts take turns highlighting the endless possibilities for bringing Wii games to Switch, from forgotten gems like Wario Land: Shake It! to generation-defining titles like Wii Sports. Hopefully, any potential Wii ports don’t subject the Switch to the Wii’s trademark shovelware problem, but only time will tell.
In the main event, the boys celebrate getting more than halfway through this bizarre year by celebrating the best games of 2021 so far. It’s already been a year of ups and downs, but whether you’re a fan of narrative-driven adventures, stylish indies, or compelling mysteries, the hosts highlight how 2021 has yielded a little something for everyone already. Between Skyward Sword HD, Monster Hunter Rise, or even Persona 5 Strikers, there’s been plenty of headliners this year–and there’s no telling which of them will make it onto the year-end lists! Lastly, Cameron closes things out on a fitting note by sharing his early impressions of the objectively greatest game of all time (according to Metacritic), The House in Fata Morgana.
