NXpress Nintendo Podcast 209: Game & Watch, Immortals Fenyx Rising, PHOGS!, and More
This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, the next generation of hosts, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill are joined by Marty Allen to discuss one little device and two big recent releases. Before heading into the bulk of the show, the cast takes a quick stop to talk about some Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo titles they wish would come to Nintendo Switch Online in the future. To continue the 8-bit extravaganza, Marty and Cameron discuss their experience with the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. device; a handheld that provides a wonderful salute to the titular system’s legacy while balancing a whole lot of secret and obvious Mario themed elements that celebrate the red plumber’s thirty-fifth anniversary.
In the main event, Marc provides his closing thoughts on Ubisoft’s Immortals Fenyx Rising, an action-packed journey that has a hard time recapturing the magic of its obvious inspiration but still stands as a substantial alternative to its phenomenal counterpart. To close things off with the gang’s usual weekly Indie Spotlight, Marc and Cameron talk about their hands-on time with Bit Loom Games and Coatsink’s latest clever double doggy physics adventure PHOGS!, arguably one of December’s greatest surprises yet and a certain Games Editor’s choice for possibly one of the best Independent titles of the year.
