NXpress #13: Brick by Brick, A Celebration of the Super Mario Bros. NES Games
Thirty years later after the release of Super Mario Bros., Mario remains the face of video gaming and one of the most recognizable characters in any medium. He’s appeared in two hundred games, collectively selling over two hundred million units and thanks to the heroic Italian plumber, Nintendo helped end the video game crash of 1983. Super Mario Bros. is one of the gaming’s great masterpieces, and in celebration of the 30 year anniversary, we’ve decided to look back at the original three games released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Before we dive into the king of platformers we finish off our E3 coverage and end with a review of Don’t Starve, an indie game best described as a hybrid of action-adventure, survival, and real-time strategy with Tim Burton-esque visuals and music. All this and more!
