FromSoftware Shows Interest in Elden Ring Adaptation

FromSoftware, the developer behind the hit game Elden Ring, has expressed interest in adapting the game into other media. During an interview with The Guardian (thanks VGC), Hidetaka Miyazaki, the president and creator of Elden Ring, confirmed the studio’s openness to such ideas. This comes as no surprise given the game’s success and the demand for more content set in its universe.

Miyazaki explained that while he doesn’t see any reason to deny an adaptation, he and FromSoftware lack the expertise to produce something in a different medium. He emphasized the need for a strong partner to help bring an adaptation to life. “We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure,” he said.

Elden Ring, a collaborative effort between FromSoftware and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, has shipped over 25 million copies since its release in February 2022. The game immerses players in The Lands Between, where they take on the role of one of the Tarnished, exiled individuals who return to conquer the land after the Elden Ring is shattered.

FromSoftware recently released the game’s first and only expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. While Miyazaki has ruled out making a second expansion, he has left the door open for a potential sequel.
