No Current Plans for Elden Ring 2 or More DLC, Says Dev
FromSoftware, the creators behind the critically acclaimed action role-playing game Elden Ring, have officially announced that they have no plans for a sequel or any additional downloadable content (DLC) beyond the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. This news comes straight from Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who, during an interview, stated that the studio does not intend to extend the game’s storyline or content with further DLCs or a second installment.
Miyazaki clarified that this decision does not signify the end of the Elden Ring franchise. He expressed a desire to keep future possibilities open, hinting at the potential for new ideas that could emerge. However, for now, the focus remains on Shadow of the Erdtree, which is set to be the final chapter in the Elden Ring saga.
Scheduled for a global release on June 21, 2024, Shadow of the Erdtree promises to take players on an adventure through the mysterious Land of Shadow. This new realm, rich in lore and history, will introduce gamers to the path of Miquella, a significant figure who has abandoned his power in anticipation of his lord’s return. The expansion aims to offer a fresh narrative and challenges within the Elden Ring universe.

Pre-orders for the DLC are already available across all major gaming platforms, with various editions catering to different player preferences. The Base Edition provides the standard DLC experience, while a special bundle includes both the original game and the expansion, ideal for newcomers. For those seeking a more immersive experience, Premium Editions offer digital bonuses like art books and soundtracks.
Additionally, a Collector’s Edition featuring a statue of “Messmer the Impaler,” a physical art book, and a digital soundtrack is available in limited quantities. Fans can also pre-order exclusive merchandise, including the Helmet of Messmer the Impaler, from the Bandai Namco Entertainment Store.
