Elden Ring Sales Skyrocket 467% in the UK Due to DLC Release
Sales of Elden Ring soared in the UK last month following the release of its highly anticipated DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. According to GameIndustry.biz, sales of the base game, necessary to access the new content, surged by 467% compared to the previous month.
The dramatic increase propelled Elden Ring from 19th to 4th place in the monthly software sales chart. The top spots were dominated by EA Sports FC 24 and Grand Theft Auto V, with F1 24 entering at No. 3 despite a slower start than its predecessor.

The latest expansion has not only boosted sales but also sparked discussions within the gaming community. The difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree has drawn criticism, but it was defended by Helldivers 2’s game director in a recent social media post.

On the hardware side, console sales fell by 9% compared to June 2023. The PS5 maintained its position as the best-selling console, while Xbox Series X/S narrowly outsold the Nintendo Switch. Despite a strong performance last year, console sales in the first half of 2024 were down 29% in units and 31% in revenue compared to the same period in 2023.
