Crash Bandicoot 5 Cancelled, Along with Project Dragon
Toys For Bob has announced the cancellation of Crash Bandicoot 5. Fans have eagerly awaited a new title since the release of Crash Bandicoot 4 in 2020. Unfortunately, one of the developers confirmed that the anticipated game has been shelved.
Nicholas Kole, a character designer from Crash Bandicoot 4, revealed on Twitter that Crash Bandicoot 5 was in development for three years before being cancelled. The project, which was being developed at a studio other than Toys For Bob, could not be saved despite numerous efforts. Kole expressed his disappointment, mentioning that fans will eventually hear about the game that never came to be.
The cancellation of Crash Bandicoot 5 isn’t the only setback for Toys For Bob. Kole also shared that another project, codenamed Project Dragon, has been cancelled. This new IP was in development for the last three years but was shut down despite internal efforts to keep it alive. While the name suggested a connection to the Spyro series, Kole clarified that it was unrelated.

Fans are understandably disappointed by the news. However, they can still support the franchise through Crash Team Rumble, a party game featuring characters from the series. Released in June 2023, it was the last game developed by Toys For Bob under Activision before the studio became independent.
