CD Projekt Red Finally Pleased with Cyberpunk 2077’s Progress After Three Years
After three years of hard work and effort to win back player trust, CD Projekt Red has finally reached a point of satisfaction with the state of Cyberpunk 2077. Adam Kiciński, the strategic director of CD Projekt Red, shared this during the company’s financial summary, stating that both the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion have met their expectations. Kiciński emphasized that they were pleased with the game’s state since last year, especially with Phantom Liberty, which has been satisfactory from the start.
This statement marks a significant moment, serving as a pleasant and symbolic closure to the months of dedication to improving Cyberpunk 2077. By the end of last year, the company announced that update 2.1 was the last major package of new content, although players can still expect smaller patches for bug fixes and minor improvements.
The turnaround for Cyberpunk 2077 was dramatic, especially after its rough start in 2020. A key moment came in September 2022 with the release of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix, which sparked renewed interest in the game. The launch of Phantom Liberty and the massive 2.0 update that revamped skill trees and core mechanics played a crucial role in this resurgence. Today, Cyberpunk 2077 boasts “very positive” reviews on Steam and has generated substantial revenue.

However, rescuing the game was not an easy feat. The production of Phantom Liberty and the associated marketing campaigns and post-launch updates came at a significant cost to CD Projekt.
This achievement underscores CD Projekt Red’s commitment to their game and their efforts to deliver a product they and their players can be proud of.
