Many people perceive browser-based gaming to be a thing of the past. If you’re of a certain age, you will remember being able to play all of the classic arcade games and many more through the comfort of your own browser. This, of course, was ideal years ago, as computers and smartphones didn’t have anywhere near the level of storage space that they have now. It meant that you could run them without having to download them, saving both time and space. However, as storage availability and processing power started to grow, attention turned to gaming, either through dedicated applications or on our smartphones or consoles.

The influence of online casinos

However, browser gaming is still very popular, and under the spotlight today are some of the most influential trends that have been over this decade so far that have made a real difference to the browser-based gaming realm and what effect they’ve had to this day. One of the most popular pastimes for gamers and gambling enthusiasts here in the UK is to play at an online UK casino, where games like poker, blackjack, bingo and other much loved games have made an easy transition to the online space

From a software development company, it is very difficult, particularly on iOS, to build a dedicated app. Whereas a lot of the top software development companies have started optimising their games so their online slots, for example, can deliver the same immersive and engaging experience—an experience that people thought was only available if you had the ability and resources to download the app.

Easy to access

Sometimes people don’t always have the patience or commitment to download an app if they want to try a new game. Whereas, let’s say someone recommends a game for them to try out; they don’t have to go to the app store and download it. Instead, they just type in the address that they have been given from their friend, and within a few minutes they can start experiencing the game. If they want a bit more of an immersive, dedicated experience, they can then make an informed decision as to whether to go ahead and download the app.

Saving money

To develop a mobile app for both the Play Store on Android and the App Store on iOS devices demands significant investment. It also requires you to hire developers specialising in developing games for that platform. On top of this, there are also fees that have to be paid to Apple and Android themselves. And we all know just how competitive any gaming industry is, but the online casino industry is finding itself increasingly diluted with both new and existing companies. And so, in order to stay competitive, they not only have to try and increase their revenue but likewise need to reduce costs where they can. And this is not only to stay competitive but to survive. Depending on what country they’re based in, there are also fees that have to be paid depending on how much revenue they generate in taxes.

In Summary

To wrap everything up, over the past years we have seen a resurgence in the browser gaming market, almost on the brink of death. As more and more people want to make their games more accessible than ever before, they will ensure that their games are indeed accessible through mobile and desktop browsers, so people who may not necessarily have the required or spare storage space can still enjoy their games. It will be exciting, however, over the next few years to see just in what direction browser gaming heads, but at the moment it is full of hope and promise.
