Warner Bros Threatens Popular Mortal Kombat Modder's YouTube Channel

ToastedShoes, a well-known Mortal Kombat YouTuber and modder, claims Warner Bros is threatening to delete his YouTube channel. He shared on social media that Warner Bros sent him an “Intellectual Property Infringement Notification” demanding he remove all Mortal Kombat 1 videos from his channel or face copyright strikes.

ToastedShoes, an Australian YouTuber with 800k subscribers, said Warner Bros’ sudden move is surprising. For over six months, modding content from him and other creators has been widely accepted. Even Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has praised these mods.

ToastedShoes’ mods have gained over a billion views across various platforms, drawing significant attention to Mortal Kombat 1. He works with a team of modders whose wages depend on the revenue from these videos.

Despite this, Warner Bros has not responded to his attempts to communicate. ToastedShoes also noted that no other content creator he knows has received such a notification. As a result, he felt compelled to remove all Mortal Kombat 1 videos from his channel.

This situation raises questions about Warner Bros’ sudden change in stance. The company has yet to comment on the matter.
