Meet the Musician and Creator Bringing the Funk to Video Game Soundtracks
So this blog has been a long time coming as I’ve been a fan of this creator for a fair amount of time now. I’m not sure why I took my sweet time to write on him but better late than never! Let’s take a look at some of the awesome work of Alex Moukala.
Alex Moukala is an incredibly talented music producer and composer whose talent knows no bounds. Moukala does insane funky bass remixes of video game soundtracks as well as analysis videos of music from video games and orchestration, but he doesn’t stop there. He also does funky covers of all sorts of music, such as the theme from Game of Thrones. If there was ever a franchise that needed an injection of funk, it has to be Game of Thrones.
One of my personal favourites of Moukala’s work is his funky take on the Hades game soundtrack. Hades has an amazing soundtrack from Darren Korb as it is but Moukala switches up the rock guitar for some jazzy bass and the result is perfection. I also love his groovy version of the Octopath Traveler music and his insane take on the infamous villain theme “One-Winged Angel” from Final Fantasy VII. It’s crazily good and I have no words so I’m just going to post it below so you can listen for yourself. Seriously, Square Enix. Let this man score a Final Fantasy game. It needs to happen.
