Ninja Theory Believes Players Favor Shorter Games
Ninja Theory, the team behind Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, believes their players prefer shorter, more focused games. Dom Matthews from Ninja Studios shared with IGN, “We aim to tell a story and ensure the game’s length matches the story we want to tell.” This means the game’s duration is tailored to the narrative, from start to finish, to provide a meaningful experience.
Matthews highlighted the digital distribution’s role in allowing for various game sizes and formats. He appreciates that many enjoy sitting down on a Friday night, turning off the lights, putting on their headphones, and immersing themselves in a shorter experience.
Digital distribution opens up more opportunities for different game sizes. Matthews admits, “I like shorter games. People’s time is precious, and from what we hear, our fans enjoy a concise game where every step is significant.”

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will launch on May 21 for Xbox and PC. It will be available on the Xbox Game Pass on the same day. This approach by Ninja Theory highlights a trend towards creating engaging, yet time-conscious gaming experiences for players who may not desire lengthy game commitments.
