Published

on

The SNES is arguably home to some of the best Japanese role-playing games ever made, but even among such revered company, Earthbound (known as Mother 2 in Japan) stands as one of the most memorable games released on the system. Here to help us discuss Shigesato Itoi’s masterpiece is guest host, Chris Miller. Before we get to the main event, we discuss The Adventures of Pip, a beautiful tribute to the 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit era that used to be. Closing the episode is our interview with Jeff Hansen, winner of the 1990 Nintendo World Championship. All this and more.

The NXpress is a weekly podcast hosted at NXpresspodcast.com in which we discuss all things Nintendo. We stay clear from in-depth game strategies and keep things light. There’s plenty of nostalgia and feedback that will resonate with vintage game collectors; meanwhile modern games are sprinkled in and each week our show revolves around a central theme.

NXpress Nintendo Podcast #199: ‘Journey to the Savage Planet’ and Games Never Ported

Nintendo Podcast | Games Never Ported

Plus Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics

This week on the NXpress Nintendo Switch podcast, Marty Allen joins Tim and Rick to discuss Journey to the Savage Planet , a first-person action platformer, a Metroidvania-style exploration game, and a very funny satire, all in one colorful, pulsating package. In addition, Marty gives a breakdown of Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, an eclectic collection of games to play and discover on your Nintendo Switch system.

In the main event, the boys discuss forgotten games made by Nintendo which have never once been ported. These include rare and hard to find gems; games that will likely never be reborn due to licensing issues, and of course, games that rely on a certain accessory that is no longer made. All this and more!

NXpress Nintendo Podcast #197: ‘Animal Crossing’ Wrapup, ‘Super Mega Baseball 3’ Review

Published

NXpress Nintendo Podcast

Technical glitches can’t hold us down forever, as this week the NXpress crew is back with their second attempt at wrapping up coverage of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After putting in an incredible 300+ hours, Ricky D joins Tim and Patrick to talk about what decorative and engineering feats he has accomplished, and where there is left to go for his 5-star island village. Along the way he shares some stories, and passes along a few tips to those looking to maximize their crafting time.

Before that, Patrick gives a brief rundown of Super Mega Baseball 3, which despite its cartoony look and ridiculous title, turns out to be a pretty fun baseball sim that captures a good portion of what makes the sport of baseball so magical. From the strategy of the pitcher-batter duel to a fairly in-depth franchise mode, there’s a lot to love here for fans.

Lastly, the guys react to the surprise announcement of Paper Mario: The Origami King. Does this latest sequel look like it will be a return to the traditional RPG that so many have been craving for the series, or will it further divide gamers by embracing the more gimmicky route of the last couple of entries? Either way, there are at least some of us who don’t mind either way. For all this and more, have a listen!
