Bernie Sanders Invades Movies, Video Games and More with the Latest Viral Meme

We always try and avoid politics here on the blog but this time around it’s avoidable with a meme that has very quickly spiraled out of all control. In a good way, of course. An image of American politician Bernie Sanders chilling out with a face mask and some rather cozy looking mittens during Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration has become so popular that the image of Sanders has invaded countless movie scenes, television shows, and even comic books. Let’s take a look at some of my personal favourites to come out of this unexpected meme.

Bernie becomes an artist at a convention in this hilariously accurate image. Tweeted out to a huge response by @SunshineCVE, the original image was created by artist @SteveYurko. This one is one of my absolute favourites as it just works. I mean, it is literal perfection. Insert chef’s kiss here.

I absolutely love this one due to the artist perfectly capturing the art style of the old DC Comics. Bernie here becomes a part of DC Comic’s Justice Society of America, sitting nonchalantly around the table with The Flash, Hawkman, Green Lantern, and more. He slots right in. CNN anchor Jake Tapper tweeted this one out but I’m not entirely sure who the original artist is, though I did try and find out. Whoever you are, I salute you, good sir or madam.

Because I couldn’t mention the DC universe without including Bernie with the Marvel characters too. That is surely some kind of sacrilege. Here, Bernie heads the Avengers and looks super comfortable doing so. Tweeted out by @AshleyKSmalls, this beautiful image was made by @djjkim who Ashley requested it from. The length of time these Photoshop legends and artists managed to turn these around seriously astounds me.

You gotta love a happy ending and what better way to make a happy ending even better than by adding Bernie. Twitter account @chanelkenobi tweeted this one out and it works excellently. He looks like the elder who is reluctant to participate in the festivities but will willingly preside over them with a quiet grace and dignity. If this isn’t evidence enough that Bernie should be in the Star Wars universe I don’t know what is. Actually, I do know what is…

Here is that further proof that Bernie needs to be a canon Star Wars character. Next up, he sits in as a passenger with Din Djarin a.k.a The Mandalorian. Now, this is an episode just begging to be made. This one comes from @discodjarin (awesome name by the way).

Bernie holds court in place of Shang Tsung over a Mortal Kombat match next in this one, tweeted out by Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon. Again, I couldn’t find the original artist but props to them for making Bernie fit in perfectly well with the game’s graphics. I can imagine Bernie in this powerful position, to be honest. “I am- once again- asking you to FINISH HIM.”

Fitting in perfectly to Night City next as Bernie casually rides the subway next to Cyberpunk 2077 protagonist V in the next version of the meme. Beautiful stuff. Shoutout to @KaraInferi for this masterpiece.
