One-Punch Man Season 3 Backlash Gets So Brutal, The Director Quits Social Media
After waiting six years for Season 3 of One Punch Man to arrive, fans were truly disappointed by the quality of the animation they got to see.
One Punch Man is known for its high-quality animation and flashy fight scenes that left fans in awe of its life-changing cinematography.
But this time, it was so downgraded that everyone couldn’t help but blame the creators for its poor animation quality.
The backlash from fans toward the creators, especially director Shinpei Nagai, has gone so far that he sadly had to quit social media altogether.
Why Fans Say One-Punch Man Season 3 “Looks So Bad”
Many fans were already skeptical about J.C. Staff confirmation on continuing the series after Season 2, which unfortunately faced criticism for quality issues as well.
Now, that Season 3 is also facing the same issue which seems to be multiplied with a lot of atrocities and poor production fans outburst with rage this time.

The issues that fans called for were poorly choreographed fight scenes, stiff character animation (basically seems like a PowerPoint presentation), off-lip-sync and pacing and finally lack of cinematic direction seen in Season 1.
Moreover, even the die heart supporters couldn’t refrain themselves and admitted that the visuals look “unfinished” or “rushed,” properly because of tight deadlines and low budgets that might have hurt production quality.
One of the fans on reddit said:
“It’s heartbreaking to see such a legendary series handled like this. The energy is gone”
The Internet Backlash: From Memes to troll:
Since days of the premiere of the show, social media was trending with #OnePunchManSeason3 posts criticizing the show’s absurd animation. Some even posted “Bring back Madhouse” on X (formerly Twitter).
But what started as just genuine criticism as memes soon turned into personal attacks directed at the staff, especially at director Shinpei Nagai, who later confirmed the backlash took a major toll on his mental health. And he couldn’t take it anymore and shut down his social media presence overall.
One fan even joked,
“If One-Punch Man can survive this, it proves even Saitama can’t one-punch bad animation.”
Director Shinpei Nagai Deletes Social Media Accounts:
Before shutting down the social media presence he has given an emotional statement before deleting his X (Twitter) account, Nagai revealed he was stepping away from social media after being targeted by harassment and fake supporters online.
He wrote:
“There are people pretending to be allies while spreading hate. I cannot forgive those who exploit the struggles of creators for attention. This has affected my mental health deeply.”
Furthermore, he also notified that he would not open any new social accounts, making his final exit from social media. Also, this is one of rare cases where an anime director claimed that he will never come back and show up on social media in a decade.
Anime Industry Speaks Out To Defend Shinpei Nagai:
Many industry professionals came to Nagai’s defense. Renowned animator Vincent Chansard stated that anime creators often work under extreme pressure, with limited funding and unrealistic deadlines that push them to their limits. He explained that it’s often the high expectations of fans that lead to chaos and disappointment in the end.

Chansard emphasized that it’s unfair to target individuals when the entire production system struggles to keep up with fan demands. He urged people to think rationally before directing excessive hate toward the creative team.
Can One-Punch Man Still Recover?
Well, despite the disastrous premiere, fans still hold onto hope that the series can recover, as there are more episodes yet to come. The upcoming Monster Association Arc could potentially turn things around, if handled with care.
Fans remain optimistic that the next episodes will bring back the punchy action and dynamic energy that made the series so iconic in the first place.
Final Thoughts:
The One-Punch Man Season 3 controversy is more than just a disappointment, it’s a wake-up call for the anime industry.
Behind every frame lies a team of artists working under immense pressure, and behind every negative tweet could be someone’s breaking point.
While fans’ expectations may not have been met this time, it’s important to remember that not every project can be perfect. Instead of focusing solely on the flaws, we should appreciate the creators’ hard work and dedication, and enjoy the story they’ve brought to life.
