Batman Is Dead?! DC’s Shocking New Anime Turns the Joker Into Gotham’s Last Hope
“Without Batman, even the Joker forgets who he is”
The title of the article might be shocking, but this is for real. This time it’s not our Dark Knight; Batman will be the one saving Gotham from Joker chaos, but the situation is totally flipped, and to know what’s the story, you have to stick with us till the end!
Overview:
As said, DC is taking one of its boldest initiatives. So, during the 2026 Annecy International Animation Festival, DC Studios officially announced Joker: Laugh Riot, an anime series that will reflect the story of Joker instead of Batman, as Batman has died in the series. Now Joker is the one who will be taking revenge for Batman’s killing.
Batman Is Dead… and Joker Wants Answers:
As mentioned previously, Joker is now on a mission to find the person behind the murder of Batman. But his journey of finding a murderer is not that easy; he has to dig into Gotham’s criminal underworld.
He finds many suspects, but during the process he subconsciously becomes more than a villain. He is more like a vigilante now than a brutal crime prince of Gotham.
Joker realized that without Batman, he no longer knows who he is. The anime showcases something more profound than a hero-villain story; rather, it highlights the purpose of both identities, like how without one, the other identity becomes unknown and shattered.
A Veteran Anime Director Leads the Project:
Joker: Laugh Riot will be directed by Yasuhiro Aoki, known for his work on Batman: Gotham Knight and for the renowned anime film titled ChaO.
Moreover, Jim Krieg is also an executive producer of the series. Other than that, Japan’s Sola Entertainment is collaborating with DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation as well to make the anime happen!
Part of DC’s Expanding Animated Slate:
Well, if you think we will only get to watch Joker: Laugh Riot, then you are wrong. Because at Annecy, DC Studios also announced multiple projects such as animated adaptations of Absolute Batman, based on the bestselling comic series by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta, alongside several other animated projects currently in development.
We will get to know that at a future date. And to get the latest updates, you need to tune into our site for the latest updates!
Joker: Laugh Riot Got No Release Date Yet:
The saddest part of all is that we haven’t received any updates from DC Studios regarding the official release date of the series Joker: Laugh Riot. So, we have to wait for more details, including casting, episode count, and a trailer, which is expected to be revealed next month.
Wrapping Up:
So, that’s all we have for you in this article, but if you need more info stay tuned to our site and let us know your thoughts on this upcoming DC Studios masterpiece, Joker: Laugh Riot!
Happy watching!
