NXpress Nintendo Podcast #163: The Game Boy Anniversary and the Difficulty in Games Debate

Published

on

On April 21st, 1989, Nintendo unleashed the Game Boy proving that power isn’t the most important thing when making a video game console.

The Game Boy was the first internationally successful handheld gaming system, and upon its release in the United States, it sold 40,000 units on the first day and its entire shipment of one million units within a few weeks. It was a global phenomenon and together, the Game Boy and Game Boy Color sold over 118m units worldwide.

This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast we look back at 8-bit handheld video game device and its influence on the video game industry – but before that, the NXpress crew chimes in on the recent debate surrounding difficulty in video games. All this and more.
