Table and Mini Games In Grand Theft Auto 6 – What Can We Expect?
It’s hard to believe that GTA 6 is so close that we can almost taste it. This game hasn’t had an instalment since 2013, and a full generation of gaming design and ideas has reshaped the landscape since.
Casino and poker games have grown in relevance with each passing instalment; GTA 3 mentioned Kenji’s casino, though without playable games, and San Andreas had Las Venturas, of course, the first venture into the vast world of casino games within the GTA universe.
As this world has become more sophisticated, the emergence of poker games in GTA V has given us the most prophetic glimpse into what the new GTA 6 could involve, and how poker could play a pivotal role in online gaming dynamics which help to bring GTA gamers from all over the world into the same circles.
One of the game’s most intriguing elements is its first female protagonist in over a quarter of a century. The franchise has featured prominent female characters throughout, of course, including the savage Catalina from GTA 3 and her reappearance in San Andreas, as well as Carl’s tenacious, highly driven sister, Kendl.
As the game has expanded over the last two decades, it has helped shape the gaming industry as we know it, so what can we expect from a casino-gaming perspective or a poker point of view?
Setting The Foundations Of Poker Knowledge
Rockstar has been an outlier in many areas of game design, but their inclusion of casino gaming in San Andreas remains one of the most understated elements of their vision. Obviously, in the age of social media and YouTube, people have explored and dissected every facet of the GTA universe. But in terms of pure innovation, there’s a strong argument that their casino games are a perfect microcosm of how much they have spearheaded gaming innovation throughout the 21st century.
Yes, they have dipped their toes in and out of groundbreaking casino gaming ideas. Still, with so much time, money, and ingenuity going into the development of GTA 6, it’s hard to imagine there won’t be a way to play poker in the game, just as we can in GTA 5.
Poker in the GTA world is a unique way to understand the game. Poker requires much more knowledge than other casino games, which is why learning poker hand rankings is the best place to start.
So, how would groundbreaking ideas manifest in Rockstar’s landmark game? Speculation is rife. A quick look at YouTube shows some of the theories and ideas enthusiastic gamers have. Social media is full of ideas, and since 2013, it has also become a foundation for those looking to bolster their poker knowledge, as you can see in the link below.
Potential Poker Innovations In GTA 6
Mini games in GTA have been an inventive way for people to learn how poker works, how people bluff and play at the table, all without risking real cash.
There’s a growing belief that digital assets and blockchain could play a pivotal role in letting people play poker against each other in GTA 6. While this hasn’t been discussed officially in any serious capacity, Take-Two and Rockstar have tried to keep their hands close to their chests.
The sky is the limit with Rockstar, as they have proven time and time again, with many gamers believing they are the beacon of innovation in the whole industry. If it’s not digital assets in GTA 6 poker, then it could be AI-driven NPC interactions that take the realism of playing at a poker table to an entirely new level.
What else? How about a poker game that unravels into a mission, or a backroom game where you must bluff your way out of a tight spot? GTA 6 online poker could be a serious money generator for influencers, too, one that scales well and is the number one route for marketing companies looking to attract a global audience, as you can see in the infographic below.

If they introduce a tiered system, such as celebrities or major influencers facing each other in elite tournaments with their own ranking system, they could create a myriad of elements that make it one of the most innovative parts of the game.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, no game in history has had as much carte blanche to do whatever it wants. The budget for this game feels open-ended, and it is guaranteed to break all sales records within a couple of weeks of release, especially if pre-sales are any indication.
There’s so much speculation right now, and until the game finally arrives, who knows what poker could look like? Given that GTA V had such a diverse and deep approach to casino games, and San Andreas was so ahead of its time, it’s understandable that people who enjoy the poker mini games in GTA are getting excited.
But with the game set in Vice City again, and the original Vice City not having a casino, maybe Rockstar could avoid including one altogether? We’ll find out soon enough.
