CD Projekt Takes a Stand Against Microtransactions in Single-Player Games
CD Projekt’s Financial Director, Piotr Nielubowicz, recently shared that his company does not see a place for microtransactions in single-player games. This statement is likely to be welcomed by fans, especially after recent controversies surrounding additions to Dragon’s Dogma 2. The question may have arisen from a discussion with StockWatch readers, reflecting concerns over the future of game monetization.
Nielubowicz’s response, “We do not see a place for microtransactions in single-player games,” suggests a commitment to keeping such elements out of solo experiences. However, he did not rule out using microtransactions in future multiplayer projects. This opens up a discussion on the evolving nature of game design and monetization at CD Projekt, known for blending single and multiplayer elements.
The conversation also touched on multiplayer and cooperative elements in upcoming games, with Nielubowicz mentioning Syriusz as a “smaller” project within the Witcher universe being developed by Molasses Flood in the United States.

Ending on a lighter note, when asked about Ubisoft’s announcement of releasing AAAA games and whether CD Projekt would consider elevating their game production to “AAAAA”, Karolina Gnas, handling investor relations at CD Projekt, humorously replied, “Ours will be AAAAA ;)”.
This highlights CD Projekt’s cautious stance on microtransactions in single-player games while hinting at potential multiplayer elements in future titles.
