Baldur’s Gate 3 Breaks Record with Four-Disc Xbox Release
Baldur’s Gate 3, a popular Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, is making a big entrance on Xbox Series X. The game is set to arrive on a total of four discs. This marks the first time an Xbox Series X game comes with so many discs. Originally planned to be released on three discs, the game exceeded this limit by just 500MB.
Michael Douse, the director of publishing at Larian Studios, confirmed this news on Twitter.
He explained that the only alternative to four discs would have been to cut content, which wasn’t a viable option. This slight overage in size means that initially set for March 25, the physical release date might be pushed to the first week of April. Douse mentioned that each version would be shipped in order of readiness, starting with the PC version. He humorously added that having no discs makes life easy, but four discs make it hard.
The PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will ship on two discs, while the PC version will only require one disc. This PC disc includes a custom installer and comes with a Steam key. For context, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was the first Xbox Series X game to be released on three discs.
