Baldur’s Gate 3 Wins Game of the Year at GDC Awards
Baldur’s Gate 3 made a stunning sweep at the Game Developers Choice Awards, clinching the Game of the Year title. This achievement places it in the league of past winners like Elden Ring, Hades, God of War, and Overwatch. The awards, decided by a group of select game creators and developers, highlight the industry’s recognition of excellence. Larian Studios, the Belgian developer behind Baldur’s Gate 3, emerged as a significant victor, affirming their prowess in crafting engaging, narrative-rich RPGs. Other notable mentions from the ceremony include The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which won Best Technology and Innovation Award, and Alan Wake 2, praised for its Best Visual Art.

Among the winners were Visai Games for Venba, grabbing Best Debut and the Social Impact Award, and Hi-Fi Rush for Best Audio. The night also honored Yoko Shimomura with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to video game music, enriching titles like Super Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy with her compositions.
