Deck Nine Cuts 20% of Workforce Amid Gaming Industry Downturn
Deck Nine Games, the maker of Life is Strange: True Colors and The Expanse: A Telltale Series, has recently shared sad news. They are cutting down their team by about 20% due to tough times in the gaming world. This means around 30 people who worked there will have to leave.
Deck Nine is known for working on the Life is Strange series for Square Enix. They have been a big part of creating games that tell deep and touching stories. Just last year, they launched The Expanse: A Telltale Series, which was well-received.
The company said on social media that they had to make this hard choice because of how rough the gaming market is right now. They praised the team members leaving, calling them talented and wonderful people who have done great work.
This isn’t the first time Deck Nine has had to let go of staff. Less than a year ago, they also had to say goodbye to some of their team. They are not alone, as many other game companies are facing the same challenges. Big names like Sony and Supermassive have also announced layoffs, showing a widespread issue in the industry.
