Anime Letdown: The Beginning After the End Misses the Mark for Fans
“The hype was real, but the animation made it hard to believe.”

A really popular and original webtoon, also renownedly praised for its light novel adaptation, The Beginning After the End anime adaptation, excited many fans to look forward to this spring season.
It was handed down as one of the most anticipated anime of the year according to many fans, but sadly, this anticipation and over-the-top excitement of fans didn’t last for long.
After the recent release of a few episodes of The Beginning After the End, fans seem to be disappointed with the adaptation, and rage can be seen in many social platforms like Twitter, Threads, etc.
But is it just fans’ high expectations? Or does the anime really lack in appeal? Let’s reveal a few key points in these points to see whether it’s a poor adaptation of the show or just fans being just outrageous for no means.
The Beginning After the End Anime Faces Backlash Over Weak Animation and Art Style:

The first and foremost reason the anime is facing a major backlash is its animation. Fans complained that the animation resembled more of a PowerPoint presentation, like frames for each fight scene were more of a static display.

After the release of anime like Solo Leveling and renowned popular adaptations, fans were expecting it to be up to the mark to standard animation with top-class effects. But sadly, it was not at all worth it.
Recently, fans even started signing up petitions to get a reanimation of the entire anime adaptation.
This shows how much dissatisfaction fans faced after the recent release of the show.
Here’s a few comments of fans on social media to show the outrage of fans on the anime:
“Art style is bland and generic, it lacks detailed features on any character’s face, the emotions look fake and underwhelming, the movements are choppy and lack any weight or impact.” – Reddit user Bulky_Following_9526
“I just watched about 80% of the first episode, and I can see why this anime hasn’t generated much buzz. The animation quality was a bit lacking, and the color choices and details felt underwhelming.” – Reddit user dracoXdrayden.
Serious Tone in The Beginning After the End’s Debut Fails to Impress Some Fans:

Other complaints fans seem to find in the show are the lack of humour in the show. Rather than adding a few moments of subtle comedy, the anime took a serious approach to the story.
Even though it can be understood that our main protagonist’s past life was full of chaos, it seems like he is currently reincarnated to a peaceful world and a really loving family.
Fans were expecting a bit more from the show as compared to the webtoon. The anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End was underwhelming and lackluster in pacing as well.
But still, there were some wholesome moments captured in the first episode where our main protagonist, as a baby boy, cries for the first time and their loving and caring parents came together to pamper him.
That made him realize that he is someone in this life whom people genuinely care about.
Overall, The Beginning After the End anime adaptation was not as expected to be, and does have its pros and cons. Still, the entire show is yet to be out. So, we are hoping the animation may get better in future episodes.
So, have you watched the show? What’s your experience? Feel free to share in the comment section.
