In this guide, we’ll examine some of the top games of 2023, emphasizing their special qualities and compelling narratives. Time for you to grab your controller and take a seat if you haven’t yet tried one of these games!
Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2010 cult videogame of the same name.
Developed by Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake 2 picks up six years after the events of the first game, with Alan Wake still haunted by his past and struggling to find peace.
This game will become a challenge only when two enemies appear, meaning that it will test your skills like other survival horror games. Grenade-type weapons are available to you, but they are uncommon and are usually best reserved for the most challenging boss battles.
You’ll be fighting in gorgeous forests, figuring out strange riddles in eccentric old homes, exploring creepy environments, and more, before being forced into terrifying boss battles.
It is impossible to feel anchored in a way that allows you to know where Remedy will lead you or what it will need of you. This shows the confidence that befits a top-tier studio, both in terms of topic and story which is one off the main reasons of the success of Alan Wake 2.
Dave The Diver
Dive into the charming world of Dave The Diver. In this relaxing and addictive game, players take on the role of Dave, a hardworking diver who explores the depths of the ocean, collecting fish, solving puzzles, and managing a sushi restaurant.
To serve up your winnings for dinner at the sushi restaurant, you must catch or hunt fish and other aquatic life throughout the diving portions of the game. However, as the in-game days go by, Dave The Diver will add further features like playing minigames, upgrading weapons, and having a farm or fish farm (yep, they’re two distinct things).
While Dave The Diver may not appeal to those seeking a fast-paced, action-packed experience, it excels in its simplicity and charm. It’s a game that invites players to appreciate the “slow gaming” vibe, fostered by the relaxing views of the underwater world.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Link faces a new threat that jeopardizes the existence of Hyrule, and you must help him once again rise to the occasion to save the kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK) retains the open-world exploration and puzzle-solving elements that made its predecessor so beloved. Players traverse vast landscapes, uncover hidden secrets, and engage in battles against a variety of enemies. The game’s world feels even more expansive and immersive, with new regions to explore and diverse environments to discover.
The game continues where the predecessor, Breath of the Wild left off. While exploring the ruins beneath Hyrule Castle, Princess Zelda and Link come discover a sleeping Ganon who after waking up and shrugging off the arm that is holding him captive tosses Link and Zelda into the darkness. Link awakens with new abilities thanks to an arm replacement, but he still has to find Zelda.
Similar to solving puzzles, building your arsenal in TOTK allows you to express your creativity. If that’s not your style, you can also just combine the two most potent components you find from defeated enemies or scattered around the land as each one has a unique attack power.
