Heihachi Mishima Joins Tekken 8 Lineup
Bandai Namco has announced that Heihachi Mishima, the iconic character from the Tekken series, will be added to Tekken 8 as a downloadable content (DLC) character. The announcement was made at Evo 2024, revealing that Heihachi will be available in Autumn 2024.
Heihachi is the third DLC character for Tekken 8, following Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska. Tekken fans were surprised by this announcement since Heihachi was presumed dead at the end of Tekken 7. However, the game’s director, Katsuhiro Harada, explained that the character’s return was driven by fan demand and the developers’ desire to continue his story.
Tekken 8 was released in January and has been successful both critically and commercially. Despite its success, some fans have voiced concerns over the game’s increasing monetization. Shortly after the game’s release, Bandai Namco introduced microtransactions, allowing players to purchase items with real money. This was followed by the addition of a Tekken Fight Pass in April, offering free and premium tiers similar to other games’ Battle Pass systems.

Heihachi’s inclusion in Tekken 8 is highly anticipated. Although the reveal trailer did not show gameplay, it did hint at familiar moves and suggested that Heihachi would play a significant role in the game’s story mode.
