Game Boys
Game Boys, Ep. 174: EA-mpire Strikes Back!?
From Zelda to Pokémon to Overwatch more recently, the Game Boys are collectively pretty vocal members of a lot of fandoms. Perhaps no property is more important to the Boys than Star Wars. This week, the Game Boys are looking at how fandom impacts reception to media through the lens of not only games but also books, television, and movies. Using Star Wars as a reference point, they investigate how new entries in an existing franchise can be positively bolstered by the fandom or toxically torn down by the same individuals and how association isn’t always an ally. In this episode, the Game Boys specifically revisit Dice’s Star Wars Battlefront II and discuss Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, the final chapter in the decades long Skywalker saga.
