Black Ops 7 Players: Your Black Ops 6 Battle Pass Is Still Leveling Up
If you’ve been grinding Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer since launch, here’s something you might not realize: you’re also leveling up Black Ops 6’s Season 6 Battle Pass at the same time. Players who own both games should jump back into BO6 to claim rewards they’ve unknowingly earned.
How the Dual Battle Pass System Works
Season 1 of Black Ops 7 hasn’t officially started yet, which means Black Ops 6’s Season 6 is still active. Any XP you earn in BO7 multiplayer simultaneously progresses your BO6 Season 6 Battle Pass.
This cross-game progression happens automatically in the background. You don’t need to do anything special – just play Black Ops 7, and your BO6 Battle Pass tiers unlock.
Black Ops 6 Season 6: What’s Still Available
Treyarch released one final major content update for Black Ops 6 last month before shifting full focus to BO7. Season 6 includes:
- Predator collaboration content
- Three new multiplayer maps
- Multiple new weapons
- Halloween-themed Warzone modes (Zombie Royale returns)
- Verdansk and Rebirth Island night variants
The Season 6 Battle Pass contains 100 tiers of rewards including weapon blueprints, operator skins, calling cards, and Double XP tokens.
The Carry Forward Problem
Here’s the catch that makes this less exciting than it should be: Activision canceled the Carry Forward feature for Black Ops 7.
What transfers:
- Double XP tokens
- Gobblegums
- Select operator skins
What doesn’t transfer:
- Most cosmetic items
- Weapon blueprints
- The majority of unlocked or purchased content
So while you’re leveling up the BO6 Battle Pass, most of those rewards stay stuck in Black Ops 6. If you’ve permanently moved to BO7, you’re earning content for a game you’re not playing anymore.
Are you tired of shooter games? Why not try online poker for a change, it gives you a thrill as well but is completely different than shooter games, so a good change.
Why Bother Claiming BO6 Battle Pass Rewards?
Given the lack of Carry Forward, why should BO7 players care about their BO6 Battle Pass progress?
Double XP Tokens: The Battle Pass contains multiple Double XP tokens that DO carry forward to Black Ops 7. These help level up faster in the new game.
You might return to BO6: Some players bounce between titles or prefer certain modes in older games. Having those rewards unlocked gives you options.
Completionist satisfaction: If you paid for the Battle Pass, you might as well claim everything you’ve earned.
This Has Happened Before
Call of Duty pulled the same trick in 2024 when Modern Warfare 3’s final Battle Pass could be leveled up while playing Black Ops 6. It’s becoming a pattern when new entries launch before seasonal content ends in previous games.
While convenient for players juggling both titles, the lack of Carry Forward makes it feel half-baked. You’re earning rewards you can’t use in the game you’re actually playing.
How to Check Your Progress
Jump into Black Ops 6 and navigate to the Battle Pass menu. You’ll likely be surprised at how many tiers you’ve unlocked just from playing BO7. Claim all available rewards, especially those Double XP tokens.
Should Activision Bring Back Full Carry Forward?
The community has been vocal about wanting comprehensive Carry Forward between titles. Players invest money in Battle Passes, bundles, and cosmetics – only to have that content become obsolete when the next game launches.
Other live service games allow progression and purchases to carry forward across sequels. Call of Duty’s approach feels outdated, especially when they’re simultaneously encouraging players to engage with multiple titles in the franchise.
The Current State of BO6 Support
With Black Ops 7 now live, active development for BO6 is winding down. Season 6 represents the game’s swan song, though servers will remain active and playable.
Warzone continues bridging both games, though the focus has shifted to supporting BO7 integration. The Battle Royale mode remains the connective tissue between Call of Duty releases.
Bottom Line
Black Ops 7 players should absolutely check their Black Ops 6 Battle Pass to claim rewards – especially Double XP tokens that carry forward. While most cosmetic content stays locked in BO6, those XP boosts provide tangible value in the new game.
The dual progression system is convenient but highlights the frustrating lack of comprehensive Carry Forward. Players are earning content for a game they’ve moved on from, which feels wasteful given the money many invest in Battle Passes and cosmetics.
At minimum, claim those XP tokens and any transferable content. Beyond that, whether the BO6 Battle Pass rewards matter depends on whether you plan to ever return to last year’s game.
