What Are the Top Reasons That Your WiFi Keeps Disconnecting?
Having an internet connection that keeps flickering like a dying lightbulb is quite annoying. One of the things that most people hate nowadays is having an internet connection that keeps on disconnecting. When your internet connection keeps on disconnecting, then there is likely something interfering with the internet connection and you can fix it by fixing the main issue. Usually, it is a router glitch, faulty cables, or network congestion that causes this issue.
Below we have discussed some top reasons why your WiFi keeps disconnecting so that you can figure out what’s causing your internet to disconnect and fix it.
Router or Modem Glitch
The first reason why your WiFi keeps disconnecting is because of your modem or router. Sometimes, when your router or modem is running for prolonged periods, then it can glitch, leading to connectivity issues. This is not a major problem and you just need to restart your router and modem to fix this issue. You can restart the router manually or visit http://192.168.1.1 to restart the router remotely. After restarting, the WiFi connection usually returns back to normal, as any glitches that might be causing this issue are flushed out.
Weak WiFi Signal
Having a weak WiFi signal or poor WiFi coverage can also lead to the WiFi connection disconnecting. A weak WiFi signal can result from multiple things including obstruction from nearby objects, poor router range, interference from nearby WiFi networks and electronic devices, and improper router placement.
This can be fixed by improving the range of the router by placing it properly at an elevated location, switching to a router with a better range, changing the WiFi frequency band and channel from http://192.168.0.1, and buying a WiFi repeater.
Network Congestion
A congested WiFi network also keeps on disconnecting and flickering in and out like a dying light bulb. A congested network means that the WiFi network has more devices connected to it than it can handle and you are to do much with the network. To fix this issue, you simply need to upgrade your WiFi router, increase the bandwidth of your network, or decrease your internet usage by limiting the number of devices connected to the network simultaneously.
Damaged Network Cables
Damaged network cables can also cause your internet connection to keep disconnecting and they are challenging to spot because the damage is usually not apparent from looking from the outside of the cable. This issue usually requires having a technician from your ISP that can diagnose the problem and faulty cables, and replace them to fix the issue. Faulty or damaged cables are rarely the problem behind the WiFi connectivity problems but if the problem is not related to other factors then, perhaps you should check the cables too.
The Problem Might Be With Your ISP
Sometimes, the issue can be because of your Internet Service Provider. Your ISP might be having internet outages and slowdowns, which can lead to internet connectivity issues. Internet outages and slowdowns are linked to your ISP infrastructure issues. If you are experiencing a lot of disconnectivity issues, then you should contact your ISP and inquire about it. If the situation doesn’t improve, then perhaps you need to switch your ISP.
