Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Breaks All-Time Viewing Record
718.6 Million Views in 24 Hours Crushes Previous Record
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day just shattered every viewing record in entertainment history. Sony Pictures confirmed that the trailer pulled in 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours—crushing the previous record held by the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, which managed 455 million views when it dropped last May.
That’s nearly 250 million more views than GTA 6. That’s not a close race—it’s complete dominance.
According to data tracking company WaveMetrix, the Tom Holland Spider-Man trailer didn’t just beat records—it obliterated them. Within eight hours of release, it had already racked up 373 million views globally. For context, Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl trailer in 2024 hit 365 million views in 24 hours. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s official trailer in 2021 reached 355.5 million views in its first day.
Brand New Day more than doubled those numbers.
Why the Trailer Went Viral
Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been waiting five years to see Tom Holland return as Spider-Man. The nearly three-minute trailer delivers exactly what fans wanted—and then some.
The footage picks up after the mind-wipe cliffhanger from No Way Home. Peter Parker is completely alone. The world forgot who he is. Aunt May is dead. MJ and Ned don’t remember him. And he’s dealing with all of it.
But the trailer also packs in massive cameos that sent the internet into overdrive:
- Jon Bernthal as The Punisher in his first MCU movie appearance
- Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
- Michael Mando returning as Scorpion (unexpected but welcome)
The combination of emotional stakes, Tom Holland’s return, and major MCU crossovers created the perfect viral storm.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Cast and Characters
Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man
Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man, but this is Peter Parker at his lowest point. Doctor Strange’s spell made the entire world forget who Peter Parker is. He’s mourning Aunt May’s death. He has no friends, no family, no one who remembers him.
Holland himself said this film “really feels like we aren’t making the fourth movie. We’re making the first movie in the chapter. This is a rebirth. This is something completely new.”
The actor was recently rushed to the hospital with a mild concussion while filming a stunt for Brand New Day. Being Spider-Man isn’t easy, even for the guy playing him.
Zendaya as Michelle ‘MJ’ Jones
Zendaya and Holland are engaged in real life, but things aren’t great for Peter and MJ in the MCU. Doctor Strange’s spell erased MJ’s memories of Peter Parker completely.
At the end of No Way Home, Peter visited MJ at the coffee shop where she works. He tried to reintroduce himself but couldn’t go through with it. MJ seemed to sense something—a hint that maybe some part of her still remembers their connection.
Will they reconnect in Brand New Day? That’s one of the biggest questions fans have.
Jacob Batalon as Ned
Jacob Batalon returns as Ned, Peter Parker’s best friend who also doesn’t remember him anymore. The spell erased everything.
Could Peter and Ned rebuild their friendship from scratch? Or will Peter find a new best friend—maybe someone from the Osborn family?
Sadie Sink – Mystery Role
Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has reportedly been cast in Brand New Day, but her character hasn’t been officially confirmed. Deadline speculates she could be playing either Jean Grey from X-Men or “another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character.”
That second hint strongly suggests Mary Jane Watson—the classic MJ from the comics. But this MCU series already has its MJ in Zendaya’s Michelle Jones-Watson.
Either way, Sink is playing a “significant” role, so we’ll find out soon enough.
What We Know About the Story
Not much has been revealed about the plot, but here’s what we can piece together:
- Peter Parker is completely alone after the events of No Way Home
- He’s dealing with the emotional fallout of being forgotten
- The Punisher appears, marking Jon Bernthal’s first MCU movie
- Bruce Banner/Hulk is involved
- Scorpion returns (Michael Mando reprises his role from Homecoming)
- The film sets up Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars
This isn’t just another Spider-Man movie. It’s a major MCU event that’s building toward the next Avengers saga.

Release Date
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
After setting the all-time trailer viewing record, expectations couldn’t be higher. Tom Holland’s return after five years, combined with major MCU crossovers and emotional stakes, has fans counting down the days.
The trailer already broke every record. Now we’ll see if the movie can deliver on that massive hype.
