This Super Mario and Metal Gear Solid Crossover Fanart is Absolute Gold

by Antonia Haynes

You should know by now that I am a rather large fan of crossovers here on the blog and today, we are taking a look at some amazing fan art that is an unexpected mashup of video games, but certainly not an unwanted one. Two franchises that seem as far apart as you can get would be the sweet and colourful platformer series Super Mario and the serious, stealth focused Metal Gear Solid franchise. Twitter user @Stoic_Miiverse decided to mashup these know well known game series’ in an epic piece of fan art. Not only that, but the characters used in the fan art are the princesses of the Mario series- Peach and Daisy.

The art- which @Stoic_Miiverse calls “Metal Gear Daisy: Echoes of Liberty”-  shows Princess Daisy dressed as Metal Gear Solid protagonist Solid Snake and Princess Peach as Solidus Snake, the main villain from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. I feel like these characters really shouldn’t be able to slip into these Metal Gear Solid character personas so easily but this art piece not only works well, it works amazingly. Even the princess’s crowns, fluffy hair and extravagant jewellery work fantastically with the Metal Gear Solid style outfits. I never thought I would see Princess Daisy wielding a rocket launcher- not to mention looking so cool doing so- but talented fans never cease to amaze me. Peach rocks that eyepatch too by the way.

Make sure to check out @StoicMiiverse on Twitter for more of their awesome artwork.

Princess Peach is portraying Big Boss, not Solidus. Solidus doesn’t wear a trenchcoat and his patch is on the left eye.
