Dancing in video games is an odd thing. There is always an awkward, stilted nature to it, particularly in older video game titles. Even in new games with up to date graphics and the latest technology, there is still awkwardness there as it is almost impossible to capture something as natural as human movement within a computer. This means that there are plenty of opportunities to find the funny side when it comes to video game dances, and that is exactly what this couple from Poland has done by taking some of the most uncomfortable video game dances and emphasising that discomfort with their hilariously robotic recreations.
The couple- Nicki and Oskar, or “Loczek”, known by their social media handle loczniki- are talented dancers who are using their skills to bring these awkward dances to life. The best thing about them is how they spot on they are in comparison to the originals, right down to the NPC level of stiff, robotic movements. Their Grand Theft Auto and The Sims dances are some of their most popular- and they were how I found them- and it’s easy to see how they have obtained such a following from this content. Their dances are just absolute perfection, perfecting the janky animations and odd choice of dance moves. Here are some wonderful examples from the couples TikTok account.
What makes these videos so awesome is the perfect expressions and movements of Nicki and Loczek. If you were to tell me that these were robots masquerading as humans, I wouldn’t even be slightly surprised. Their skill at replicating the movement is not only hilarious, but also a testament to their skills in the art of movement. But do they stop at video game dances? Thankfully not. The two take requests on their TikTok and some of their non video game dance recreations includethe Rick Dance from Rick and Morty, the Bird is the Word dance that was made infamous on Family Guy, the S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in my Pants) dance from Phineas and Ferb and the Jellyfish Jam from SpongeBob Squarepants. Their talent in recreating awkward dances knows no end. They are also very much couples goals by the way. This is the kind of relationship that we can all only hope for.
