The Suicide Squad Get the Rick and Morty Treatment In This Curious Crossover

Published

on

Rick and Morty have had their fair share of crossovers in the past- from video games to fast food chains- and the most recent partnership for the cartoon duo is James Gunn’s latest film The Suicide Squad. The official Rick and Morty Instagram posted some images of seven of the characters from the DC movie drawn in that classic Rick and Morty cartoon art style.

The characters that get a Rick and Morty makeover are Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), PeaceMaker (John Cena) Polka Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and of course- the star of the show- King Shark/ Nanaue (Sylvester Stallone). This art style actually suits the characters really well, particularly the female characters Harley and Ratcatcher 2. I don’t know why but they just rock the look exceptionally well. Except for King Shark. King Shark is love. King Shark is life. This kind of makes me long for an appearance from these characters in the show or maybe an animated spin off of The Suicide Squad. I really enjoyed the movie and I think a cartoon would be a cool way to expand some of these characters. The ones who survived the film anyway. I have said too much.

Rick and Morty is a series that seems to just pick and choose their partnerships at random. They literally feel picked out of a hat at times. Despite this, after watching The Suicide Squad movie, I think it definitely has a vibe that resonates with Rick and Morty. A lot of humour; a lot of bizarre characters and even more bizarre plot points mixed with a nice sprinkling of mega violence. A match made in heaven really.
