2018 hasn’t been a vintage year, in many ways. From Donald Trump to Brexit, following the news this year has been a bit like watching a really crap comedy of errors on daytime television, only we’re actually living in it. The world is a frightening, embarrassing garbage heap, but hey, until the trumpets of Judgement Day sound it’s the only world we’ve got so we might as well make the most of it.

And since it’s the end of the year that can only mean one thing: it’s time for us to hastily throw together some best of the year lists to publish instead of doing any real work. Slam dunk.

While news-wise, 2018 has been a shitshow from top to tail, it’s not been a bad year in terms of entertainment. We’ve had some blinding video games, some wonderful movies, and of course, some banging tunes to listen to. You’ll be seeing our best of the year lists going up over the next few days, but if you’ve got thirteen hours to kill then you might want to get your earholes on our 2018’s Best Music playlist via the lovely people at Spotify.

Including bangers from Childish Gamino, Robyn, Moses Sumney, Boygenius, Soccer Mommy, Janelle Monáe, Let’s Eat Grandma, LOO??, Chromatics, Lana Del Rey, Anderson .Paak, and many, many more, our 2018’s Best Music has a little something for everyone. Give it a listen and let us know what your favourites are. And see you all at the gym on January 1st when we’re desperate to shed the thirty pounds we’ve put on thanks to all that delicious Christmas tuck.

And if you really liked this and you’re in the mood for more, you can find our 2017’s Best Music playlist right here.

John can generally be found wearing Cookie Monster pyjamas with a PlayStation controller in his hands, operating on a diet that consists largely of gin and pizza. His favourite things are Back to the Future, Persona 4 Golden, the soundtrack to Rocky IV, and imagining scenarios in which he's drinking space cocktails with Commander Shepard.
