Steampunk Crosses with Super Mario In This Fantastic Video Game Fanart

I’m such a big fan of well-done video game fan art and today, I am writing about a piece that really makes me yearn for a steampunk-themed Super Mario game. Twitter user and artist @hosinoirie777 creates a lot of fantastic Super Mario fan art and this one is brilliant, showing Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Princess Peach with a steampunk art style and amazingly designed steampunk costumes.

The fan art seems to be a reference to the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle game for the Nintendo Switch, with crosses over Mario with the Raving Rabbids series from Ubisoft but with a distinctive steampunk style for each of the characters. I absolutely love it and it’s really making me wish for a Mario game that was entirely steampunk. Can you imagine it? Maybe you could save the princess from a clockwork castle and fight a mechanized Bowser. I want it and I want it now.

I love how the character’s personalities still manage to shine through in this artwork. Mario and Luigi look like two inventor brothers who could use their various gadgets and gizmos to fight Bowser. I love Peach’s outfit the best though, especially the mini top hat, her cog-themed accessories, and her cute mechanical duck companion. Yoshi looks cool too, with massive googles and boots because of course, the giant reptilian companion gets an outfit. It would be unfair otherwise. Please Nintendo, steampunk Mario game. Please.
