Selena Gomez is the Latest Celeb to Jump into ‘Animal Crossing’

World renowned American pop singer and ex Disney channel star Selena Gomez has joined the ranks of celebrities joining the Animal Crossing community.  Gomez recently appeared on the talk show Animal Talking– a late night show hosted by screenwriter Gary Whitta and carried out entirely within the Animal Crossing game. Whilst on the show, Gomez performed an acoustic version of her song “Past Life” alongside singer Trevor Daniel.

Animal Talking has attracted a fair few big names in the past- including actress Brie Larson, singer T-Pain, actor Elijah Wood and more- but Gomez is on a whole different level of stardom. With 185.5 million Instagram followers, 61.8 million Twitter followers, 26 million YouTube subscribers and her music being streamed more than 25 billion times, it is safe to say that she is a rather large presence to have within the humble world of Animal Crossing. Her time on the show broke the audience records for Animal Talking, reaching almost a million live views and almost 29,000 concurrent’s at its peak.

Gomez herself seemed humble and genuine in her interview with Whitta, saying that “all her friends play (Animal Crossing)” and that she “knew it would be really fun”. She also had a pretty simple outfit that she chose for her avatar: a simple blue sweater and white jeans. It is always nice to see such a huge star be happy to request the more simple comforts. Gomez and Daniels also nailed their performance of “Past Life” in their unexpected mini concert. The Wednesday night show –from August 5th– also had interviews with gaming legend and director of God of War Cory Balrog, prominent game actresses Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey (most recently known for their work as Ellie and Abby in The Last of Us: Part II) and actress Shannon Woodward (the voice and mo-cap for Dina in The Last of Us Part II).

Here’s hoping that Whitta continues to bring joy to the Animal Crossing community with more fun guests on his Animal Talking show and have a look at the whole Wednesday night episode of Animal Talking below.

Antonia Haynes resides in a small seaside town in England where she has lived her whole life. She's a simple girl with a passion for zombies, writing, film, television, drawing, superheroes, Disney and, of course, video games.
