The latest Nintendo Direct Mini has come and gone, and while the North American and European version of the presentation was a bit sparse on announcements, the Japanese version had a few extra surprises that weren’t present overseas. One of the most notable of these was the reveal that the much-anticipated Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is finally releasing later this year across Switch, PS4, and PC in November. Better yet, it will do so in style thanks to its incredible-looking limited edition.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Sakuna is a sidescrolling platformer that combines elements of action gameplay with farm simulation and crafting. It features a beautiful painterly visual style, and perhaps most impressively, it’s developed by the two-man team behind the indie classic Astebreed. We went hands-on with it at PAX East earlier this year and came away very impressed, so its long-awaited release is certainly welcome.

The reveal showed off more than just the game’s release date. In addition to a standard physical and digital release, publisher Xseed is going all-out on Sakuna’s limited “Divine” edition. This version, which will be available for $59.99 USD, includes the physical game, a 130-page art book of illustrations and concept art, a three-CD album of the game’s full soundtrack, a custom box with exclusive art, and to top it all off, it also includes a Japanese omamori charm.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin will have a staggered release depending on your territory. It will release November 10 in North America, November 20 in Europe, and November 12 in Japan. In the meantime, both standard and Divine editions of the game are available to preorder!
