Rare’s Releasing Three Classic Soundtracks On Vinyl

When we first launched this website, I released a mixtape sampling my favourite soundtracks from some of my favourite video games developed by Rare in conjunction with a month-long spotlight on the famous team of game developers. Working with such musicians as Robin Beanland, David Wise Eveline Fischer, Graeme Norgate, Grant Kirkhope and David Clynick, Rare put together one of the most prolific teams of composers in a game company. Be it the music that plays when you pause Battletoads or the haunting melodies of the Goldeneye 007 score, the music has always been an important component in any of the company’s games, and sometimes as recognizable as the popular characters that populate these games.

Earlier this week, the acclaimed developer announced that it’s teaming up with iam8bit to release three classic soundtracks in special limited edition vinyl form. In a post on Twitter, Rare revealed that albums for Battle Toads, Conker’s Bad Fur Day and Viva Piñata will be released in 2xLP and boast custom made art. The albums are priced at $35, with pre-orders opening on November 24.
