YouTube user Andrea Vadrucci, better known as Vadrum has been uploading his drum performances of video game music since 2006, with his three most notable videos highlighting music from Super Mario Bros in 2008. Vadrum has now recently uploaded a new video that tends to rival those successes with his drum medley of the original Sonic the Hedgehog music.

The video titled “Vadrum Meets Sonic the Hedgehog” is more than eight minutes long and features all of the original music from the 1991 release version of the game. Vadrum’s video description reads as follows:

“Here’s my medley of Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the most requested things here on this channel EVER! The amazing music (composed by Masato Nakamura and Yuzo Koshiro) is from the 8-bit version of the game, released in 1991 (yeah, more than 25 years ago!) for the Sega Master System and Game Gear…oh man, how much I LOVED it back in the days! And in the same way I loved every single thing of this video, from the idea to the final stage…I hope you’ll love it too.”

Vadrum doesn’t list the individual tracks in the medley but it’s still pretty easy for any long-time Sonic the Hedgehog fans to pick out each track. “Green Hill Zone” will likely be the theme that most fans will recognize, which kicks in at around 1:40 of the video.

What’s more impressive though, is the energy and passion that Vadrum is displaying for the entirety of the performance, continuously smiling and moving his head along with the music. You can tell he’s just as into this music as he was back during his older Super Mario Bros sessions.
