‘Dragonborne’: A Brand New Game Coming to the Game Boy More Than 30 Years After The Consoles Release

With all this talk of next gen consoles and the future of the video game industry, sometimes it can be refreshing to take a step back to appreciate and enjoy a simpler time in gaming. That’s exactly what the UK and Germany based indie game developers Spacebot Interactive plan to do with their upcoming release of their game Dragonborne.

Spacebot Interactive is a retro indie game studio, which isn’t really something you would expect to hear from a game developer in 2020 from it’s not an unwelcome fact by any means. It’s definitely an invigorating concept that emphasises the importance of remembering the foundations of the gaming industry. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are now. Spacebot Interactive is taking this respect for retro games and consoles to a whole new level with their game Dragonborne. Dragonborne is an adventure RPG game with turn based battles, quests and puzzles. It also happens to be a game coming only to the Game Boy. Yes, that is correct. The Game Boy, Nintendo’s first handheld console released thirty one years ago in 1989. I love this concept and I truly hope that Dragonborne is a huge success so that Spacebot Interactive can continue making retro games. So get ready dig out your Game Boy and prepare for an all new game! The last game to be released for the GameBoy was in 1999- twenty one years ago- so you might have to do a fair bit of rummaging to find it. Dragonborne is due for release in January 2021 and pre orders for physical copies are available now through to November 30th.

Have a look at the official press release from Spacebot Interactive for Dragonbourne below.
