‘Streets of Rage II’ Soundtrack available on Vinyl

Streets of Rage 2 is one of the most popular brawlers ever made, and with reason. The game is arguably superior to any other side-scrolling beat-’em-up to come from the same era, and even today, the game is fun to play. With original rumblers Axel and Blaze and the skull-crushing ex-wrestler Max Thunder, gamers will find plenty to enjoy when playing Sega’s classic beat-em-up. The game also features a great soundtrack with plenty of catchy tunes, and collectors will soon be able to purchase the music on a special vinyl release.

Data-Discs has just announced that it will be releasing the soundtrack of Streets of Rage II on vinyl in the next couple of months. Composer Yuzo has collaborated with the company for the remastering process, with pre-orders open on the 27th of February. Here is the info from the press release:

Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential game soundtracks of all time, Streets of Rage 2 remains a towering achievement of the 16bit era. Data Discs is extremely proud to be releasing this masterpiece of FM synthesis, composed by Yuzo Koshiro in 1992 and sounding more relevant today than ever.

The audio has been carefully remastered using multiple sources, including the original NEC PC-88 files supplied by Koshiro himself, and packaged in original artwork sourced from the SEGA archives in Japan.
