When it comes to animation, it can be difficult for artists to stand out in a market with a huge amount of people possessing brilliant talents. Freelance 3D animator Dave Ashby manages to do just that though with his incredibly well made 3D augmented reality animations which bring various characters into real world settings.
Ashby is an incredibly talented digital designer and 3-D artist who has created some astounding work and been involved with various projects that showcase his skills. His work has become more viral as of late thanks to his Pokémon animations that depict 3-D versions of various Pokémon interacting with the world around them and with real people. These are fantastically done and adorably cute little animations that show how Pokémon would behave if they were real. Oh, how I so wish they were real. Ashby’s work just makes me want them to be real even more so. Some examples include Bulbasaur going for a stroll with their owner, Glaceon freezing a house cat and a group of four Squirtles and a Rattata trick or treating whilst dressed up as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Master Splinter. Literal perfection. Ashby’s skills are undeniable and his work clearly brings a lot of joy to those involved in his work.
Ashby has also uploaded other augmented reality-style animations, including characters such as Piranha Plant from Super Mario, Marceline the Vampire Queen from Adventure Time, a few different Digimon creatures, and a cute and cuddly Ori from the Ori game series. His original work is brilliant too, so I would highly suggest checking out his work in the links below. Make sure to have a look at the TikTok compilation of Ashby’s Pokémon work too.
